Jenna’s Just-in Boutique has moved to its new location and expanded its inventory to offer a wide variety of jewelry, accessories and more. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching on February 14, the opening is just in time to find that special gift.
Jenna Gifford opened her new store Feb. 7 in the Crossroads Mall at 2027 S. Glenburnie Road. The store was previously located in Jan’s Hallmark Shop, 3460 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. which is in the same mall.
Gifford said Paul Dixon, owner of Jan’s Hallmark Store, was planning to retire, so she felt it was the perfect time to open her own store. The Hallmark store will remain open under new ownership.
“We decided it would be a good idea to remove the store from the Hallmark store and be able to expand,” Gifford said. “I’m helping him retire and he’s helping me start here. We’re still a team.”
Gifford said she has about 40 days to have the new location ready to open before Valentine’s Day.
“We had to completely gut and renovate the building,” Gifford said. “We had to install new floors and walls, new ceilings, lighting, we had to take everything down.”
Gifford said she and her family with the help of her store manager Jennifer did all the work, she didn’t hire any contractors.
“We worked seven days a week from sunrise to sunset sometimes,” Gifford said. “It was a family affair.”
The store specializes in Pandora products such as necklaces, bracelets and pendants. They also carry branded clothing and accessories such as Bogg Bags, Teleties, Couture Tee, Oventure, Girlie Girl Originals, Sassyfrass tees, Candy Club, Cloister Honey, Holiball, other fashion jewelry and clothing, gifts, home decor and more.
“Thursday through Sunday will be our busiest days of the year,” Gifford said. “We’re normally closed on Sundays, but we’ll be open February 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so customers can get those last-minute freebies.”
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
The store also hosts an interactive Facebook Live shopping event on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Gifford said she started the live show at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic so customers could continue shopping without having to leave their homes. There are currently up to 300 buyers who frequent regularly according to Gifford.
The show can be viewed at www.facebook.com/jennasnewbern.
Gifford said she’s really excited for what the future holds for the mall.
“There are good tenants coming into the mall,” Gifford said. “It’s really going to be revitalized in the next year and a half. With the way New Bern is developing right now, I’m really excited about what the future holds for this place.”
Bell Commercial Properties, which leases the mall, did not respond to a request for comment on potential new businesses at the location.
